It All Starts Here
About me…about lbcake, aka poundcake, aka Lisa
I’ve just crossed that 60-one-derful threshold- that equates to many years in my rear view mirror, but with the anticipation of the year(s) ahead. I’m turning the pages of a new chapter – sometimes with a degree of angst, but excitement overall! I’m heading to France for an extended amount of time (thinking 6 months) for immersion into the French language and culture. It’s been tops on the infamous “bucket list” and thinking that I better get things started. I’m not getting any younger and I’ve seen age creep up on some, and some who have been taken away to another realm too soon. I want to create memories before it’s physically a challenge and becomes only a dream.
So, where did poundcake originate??
It all started over a backgammon game back in the days when CB handles were popular – dates me now – but when you consider my age – yep – I lived back then….My brother, KB, always called me LB, and hence, over a couple of beers and a compelling game on the backgammon board, I was duly christened lbcake. It has stuck with me since then in the world of the internet. So, that’s explained.
La prochaine aventure… the next adventure (I’ve had a couple in previous years, which might be discussed here from time to time). I expect there will be highs and lows, but I generally keep an optimistic outlook. I’ve been accused of being “perky” many times but I’m thinking it’s better than not…. My intention is to keep this blog current with my travels and interpretations of such. Many have told me that they will be living vicariously through me and these adventures, solo adventures, that articulate courageous, and some might think crazy acts and maybe that will prove true. My mother, bless her heart, never wanted me to embark on this adventure solo, but circumstances are such and I am ready for the challenge. She will be watching over me (I am sure) and I will be secure AND cautious when necessary. Her passing has freed my devoted time to now pursuing this dream and I will be holding her in my heart every step of the way.
So, there is a bit of my background. I am sure more will be revealed in my subsequent posts. Feel free to comment or make suggestions as I have plenty of unscheduled times ahead so I am open to considering options.. I know that I am truly blessed to be able to pull this off for now – my funds will dictate plenty and I’m hoping they will sustain me over time…but who knows? I guess you will be sharing this with me. So, here we go…..
Vive La France!
